Air Filtration and Air Purifiers
Air Filtration – All HVAC systems are designed with air filtration but what type of filter do you have? Air filtration has to do with the amount of particles that get trapped in your filter when running your HVAC system. MERV, stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values, which reports a filter’s ability to capture larger particles between 0.3 and 10 microns. The higher the MERV rating the great the filter will trap specific types of particles. Changing your filter at minimum bi-annually is also recommended.
Air Purifiers – Air purification are a great addition to any HVAC system. Air purifiers today offer ionization, UV Lights, and a combination of both. Ionization purifiers push ions through your ductwork which in turn travel through your home capturing dust and dander, as well as fights against odors, VOC’s and inactivates virus in the air. The ions are then clustered together and captured in your air filter. UV Lights are also a great purifier as they will inactivate specific, targeted bacteria where the UV light shines. These help to reduce the bacteria that can build up inside your system.
